The National Bank of Georgia kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 8% for the eighth consecutive time during its June 2025 policy meeting. Inflation remains close to the central bank’s 3% target, with headline inflation recorded at 3.5% in May 2025 and core inflation at 2.1%. Although inflation is expected to temporarily exceed the target—averaging 3.8% for the year—it is projected to stabilize around 3% over the medium term. Meanwhile, economic activity remained solid, with preliminary data showing that the Georgian economy grew by an average of 8.8% over the first four months of 2025. As expected, this strong growth is gradually converging toward its long-term trend. In light of these conditions, the Monetary Policy Committee decided to maintain a cautious stance on the continued normalization of monetary policy. Future decisions regarding interest rate adjustments will be guided by updated macroeconomic forecasts and assessments of both domestic and external risks.
