The Central Bank of Mozambique lowered its key MIMO interest rate by 75 bps to 11% in a decision announced on May 30,2025, marking the ninth consecutive rate reduction. Policymakers said the move primarily reflects the stabilization of inflation expectations within single digits over the medium term, supported in part by favorable trends in international prices of goods and services, despite ongoing significant domestic risks and uncertainties impacting projections. Mozambique's annual inflation rate fell to 3.99% in April 2025 from a near 1-1/2-year high of 4.77% in the prior month, reversing the upward trend that followed October’s election turmoil.
