The central bank of Oman lowered its key repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.0% on December 19th, 2024, mirroring a similar move by the US Federal Reserve. The repo rate is the policy rate that allows commercial banks in Oman to borrow short-term liquidity from the CBO as the lender of last resort. Oman pegs its currency to the US dollar. The Fed’s quarter-point reduction on Wednesday follows a 25-basis-point cut in November.
