    Our Take on 4XC

Founded in 2018, 4XC is a well-rounded financial derivatives broker that provides forex, CFD, and forward contracts trading. The broker offers 80+ tradable instruments at reasonable prices. It impresses with its comprehensive research and informative e-books geared towards beginners.

4XC incorporates MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 and offers free Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting to high-volume traders. Its trading accounts are diverse and have low deposit requirements.

I also appreciated 4XC’s dedication to client safety. In addition to its regular licensing, the broker is externally audited and has a rigorous Client Categorization policy.

However, 4XC is not without its drawbacks. I found its crude oil spread is markedly higher than the industry average, and its tradable instrument offering is rather limited.

    4XC Pros and Cons

    Pros Cons
    • Copy trading
    • Low spread on Bitcoin
    • Free VPS hosting
    • Robust market research
    • Low deposit requirement
    • Reliable customer support
    • High crude oil spread
    • Limited tradable instruments

    Is 4XC Right for You?

When reviewing a broker, we assess if it suits different trading strategies and trader profiles. To achieve this, we evaluate the availability of the necessary features and tools. Here’s our verdict about 4XC:

    Casual Trading: Acceptable Choice

Thanks to the familiar MT4 and MT5 platforms, the $50 minimum deposit requirement, and AI-powered market research by Acuity, 4XC could be a good option for casual traders. However, it has a narrow tradable instrument selection and lacks share CFDs.

Social and Copy Trading: Perfect Match

4XC offers a specialized social trading account where signal followers can subscribe to the winning strategies of signal providers and mirror their performance. Respectively, signal providers can charge a commission fee for each subscriber they get. Additionally, 4XC offers PAMM accounts for managed trading.

4XC’s swaps were above the industry benchmark during my test, and its range of instruments does not include assets typically used for longer-term trading. Additionally, 4XC’s research content is mostly focused on short-term trading opportunities.

    Day Trading: Perfect Match

The powerful Acuity tool screens viable trading opportunities that are currently developing across various markets. Additionally, day traders can benefit from the broker’s competitive fees with its Pro account, which features a low deposit of only $100.

    Scalping: Acceptable Choice

4XC achieves reasonably fast order execution speeds and incorporates MetaTrader, which features one-click trading. However, the platform’s lowest timeframe is 1 minute, which is not ideal for scalping.

    News Trading: Acceptable Choice

4XC offers a blend of comprehensive in-house market research, including breakdowns and news, and powerful AI-generated trading signals from Acuity.

    Automated Trading: Perfect Match

Algo traders can automate their systems using MetaTrader’s Expert Advisors (EAs). Additionally, the platform has a backtesting feature to improve the parameters of the EAs. Lastly, 4XC offers free VPS hosting for low-latency trading and average order execution speeds of around 5 milliseconds.

4XC does not offer any real stocks for value investing.

    What Sets 4XC Apart?

4XC stands out with its three broad and highly informative e-books that cover the basics of technical analysis. Beginners can learn about price action and the proper application of some of the most commonly used technical indicators.

I opened a Standard account with the 4xCube Ltd entity and performed my tests on the desktop and mobile versions of the MetaTrader 5 platform. Some features and services may vary depending on where you reside.

    Trust

    3.1
How Did We Test the Broker's Trustworthiness?
Assessing a broker's trustworthiness with your funds is vital. To help you make the right decision, we carefully checked each broker's regulatory license and examined how well they protect traders. Moreover, we looked at the broker's stability by studying their business history, corporate structure, and industry experience. Finally, we thoroughly reviewed all of the broker's legal documentation, including terms, conditions, and fees, and evaluated their transparency based on our analysis. Our hands-on approach ensures that even novice traders have the knowledge they need to make smart decisions.
    trust chart

4XC is licensed and regulated by the FSC in the Cook Islands. The broker keeps client funds in segregated accounts, ensures negative balance protection, and is externally audited. I consider 4XC a transparent and trustworthy broker.

    Segregated Funds Yes
    Negative Balance Protection Yes
    Compensation Scheme No
    Maximum Leverage 1:500

    4XC Regulations

In our reviews, we examine the licenses and regulations of each entity operated by a broker, allowing us to compare their different levels of protection. We rank licenses by various regulatory bodies on a three-tier system, where Tier-1 licensing indicates the highest level of regulation.

This is what I discovered about the single entity operating under the 4XC trade name:

    • 4xCube Ltd is licensed and regulated by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) of the Cook Islands under license number MC03/2018. We rate the FSC as a Tier-3 regulator.
4xCube Ltd’s licensing info from the FSC of the Cook Islands
4xCube Ltd’s licensing info from the FSC of the Cook Islands

Understanding the Regulatory Protections of Your Account

Brokers operate multiple entities globally, but regulatory protections vary. Some regulators enforce stricter financial standards than others, so traders should understand the safety measures of the entity they choose to open an account with.

Here is what you need to be looking for in a broker in terms of safety mechanisms:

    • Segregation of client funds. Keeping client funds in segregated bank accounts from the ones used for the broker’s corporate capital negates the risk of accounting errors. 4XC holds client funds separately from the company’s corporate capital in segregated accounts.
    • Negative balance protection. This safety mechanism removes the risk of trading losses exceeding the account balance. In other words, the losses you incur from trading are capped at the amount you have put in your trading account. 4XC guarantees negative balance protection.
    • Compensation scheme. A compensation scheme protects traders against the broker’s liabilities if the company becomes insolvent. 4XC does not provide a compensation scheme to its clients.
    • Maximum leverage. Capping the maximum leverage restricts the extent of market exposure to retail traders. The higher the leverage, the higher the potential profits and potential losses. The maximum retail leverage with 4XC is 1:500.

    Stability and Transparency

In our Trust category assessments, we evaluate factors tied to stability and transparency, including the broker’s longevity, company size, and information transparency.

I found that 4XC is externally audited and also has a rigorous Client Categorization policy implemented during account creation with the broker. I also reviewed the broker’s legal documents and policies, including its Client Agreement. Important information is readily available, easy to comprehend, and written with straightforward language, ensuring traders can understand the terms and conditions. Overall, I concluded that 4XC is a fairly transparent broker.

Is 4XC Safe to Trade With?

I determined that 4XC is quite safe to trade with due to the following factors:

    • Regulated by the FSC
    • Externally audited
    • Provides transparent legal documents

    Fees

    4.1
How Did We Test the Broker's Fees and Commissions?
Broker commissions and fees can be challenging to understand. To simplify this for you, we carefully examined all the broker's fee-related documentation and presented it in a clear, easy-to-understand format. Furthermore, we conducted hands-on tests on spreads and commissions for the most common instruments during both London and New York trading sessions. We then compared these real-time test results to the market benchmark we've established through our extensive experience evaluating the industry.
    fees chart

The 4XC Standard Account provides commission-free trading with floating spreads that vary significantly depending on the asset class. More competitive conditions are available through the Pro Account. During testing, the broker’s swap fees were elevated. While there is no inactivity fee and deposits with 4XC are free, a handling fee is applied to withdrawals.

    4XC Trading Fees

    4XC Spreads

I tested 4XC’s spreads on 19 December 2024 during the London and New York opens. The results are shown in the table below:

Instrument Live Spread AM Live Spread PM Industry Average
    EURUSD 1.2 pips 1.1 pips 1.08 pips
    GBPJPY 1.8 pips 2.1 pips 2.44 pips
Gold (XAUUSD) 25 pips 20 pips 23 pips
Crude Oil 0.12 pips 0.12 pips 0.03 pips
    Apple NA NA 0.33 points
    Tesla NA NA 0.50 points
Dow Jones 30 2.8 basis points 2.8 basis points 3.3 basis points
    Germany 40 1.8 2.6 basis points 1.6 basis points 2.4 basis points
    Bitcoin $6.1 $15.3 $34

My live tests indicate that broken down by asset class and compared to the industry average, 4XC charges low spreads on cryptocurrencies, low-to-average spreads on currency pairs and indices, and average-to-high spreads on commodities.

    4XC Commissions

In addition to spread, 4XC imposes a commission for cryptocurrency trading on its Standard account.

    4XC Swaps

A swap fee is a trader’s cost for holding an open position overnight because of changing interest rates. Swap long refers to the charge deductible or credit receivable for holding a buy position open overnight. In turn, swap short relates to the charges/credits deductible or receivable for holding a selling position open overnight.

The values listed below are for one full base currency contract (100,000 units).

    Instrument Swap Long Swap Short
EURUSD Charge of $9.48 Credit of $0.16
GBPJPY Credit of $13.14 Charge of $36.84

I assessed that 4XC’s swaps were average to high compared to the benchmark. However, it is important to also point out that swaps change over time.

    4XC Non-Trading Fees

Deposits with 4XC are free of charge. However, the broker imposes a handling fee for withdrawals, depending on the chosen method. According to 4XC, there is no inactivity fee for dormant accounts.

    Accounts Comparison

I have compiled the table below to help you better understand the difference between the trading fees with 4XC’s three account types and the industry average. It illustrates the spreads and commissions I have recorded for the EUR/USD pair and compares them against the typical costs for ECN and STP accounts in the industry at large.

The table demonstrates how much you would have to pay to trade 1 full lot (100,000 units) in EUR/USD with a pip value of $10 for each account.

To calculate the cost of such a full-sized trade, I used this formula: Spread x pip value+commission

Account Type* Minimum Deposit Requirement Spread Commission** Net Cost
    Standard $50 1.1 pips $0 $11
    Pro $100 0.2 pips $5 $7
    VIP $10,000 0.1 pips $4 $5
    Typical STP NA 1.2 pips $0 $12
    Typical ECN NA 0.2 pips $6 $8

*The numbers in this chart are only illustrative and subject to change over time
    **Round-turn commission

My live testing indicates that 4XC’s Standard account features marginally better spreads than the industry average. I also assessed that the most cost-effective account with 4XC is the Pro account, which combines more favorable fees than the Standard account and markedly lower minimum deposit requirement than the VIP account.

    Are 4XC’s Fees Competitive?

Overall, 4XC provides average spreads, with competitiveness varying based on the traded instrument and chosen account type. Additionally, the broker imposes high swaps but maintains reasonable non-trading fees.

    Platforms and Tools

    4.3
How Did We Test the Broker's Trading Platforms?
We understand that platforms play a crucial role in your trading experience. That's why we spent many hours testing the broker's web, desktop, and mobile trading platforms to gain a real understanding of their usability, functionality, and overall performance. From experimenting with different order types to testing execution speeds, charting, and other features, we thoroughly examined every aspect of these platforms based on our trading expertise, helping you make an informed choice.
    platforms chart

4XC incorporates the standard suites of MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, both available for desktop, web, and mobile trading. The platforms support basic order execution and automated trading. 4XC also provides free VPS hosting for ultra-fast order execution and copy trading solutions.

    4XC MT5 Desktop

The desktop version of the MetaTrader 5 platform features multiple essential tools, such as one-click trading, an alarm setting option, and a market depth tool. These allow traders to examine various market developments from different angles and exploit the underlying trading opportunities in multiple ways.

    MetaTrader’s depth of market tool
    MetaTrader’s depth of market tool

MT5 is arguably best suited for automated trading via its Expert Advisors (EAs). The platform also has an intuitive strategy tester, allowing experienced algo traders to tweak the parameters of their strategies so that they can be used under different market conditions.

    General Ease of Use

    MetaTrader 5’s main panel
    MetaTrader 5’s main panel

The MetaTrader platform is easy to navigate and has an intuitive design. However, its cumbersome charts make it somewhat difficult to use.

4XC’s MT5 platform is available on both Windows and Mac and supports 52 different languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Chinese, and more.

In addition to the above-mentioned depth of markets tool, MT5 also features:

    • Alerts: Traders can set alerts for following when the price of a given instrument falls or rises to a predetermined level, which could potentially signal a viable entry opportunity.
    • Watchlist: Traders can populate watchlists with their favorite instruments and track market changes more easily.
    • One-click Trading: This feature enables instant market entries at the spot price and is invaluable for high-precision traders, such as scalpers.
    • Trading from the Chart: Traders can place conventional trading orders directly from the chart, specifying the entry price, volume level, stop and take-profit levels, and more.

    Charts

I consider the charts screen a platform’s most important feature. It facilitates technical analysis by providing an overview of price action behavior. Chart artists use many analytical tools and chart configuration possibilities to examine it from multiple angles. In my experience, the really important aspect of a chart is how easy it is to scale price action up and down.

    MetaTrader 5’s charts screen
    MetaTrader 5’s charts screen

As shown above, a common issue with MetaTrader is that charts can quickly become cluttered, even with just two indicators. This can obscure price action and make it harder to perform detailed technical analysis.

I have broken down the available analytical tools and chart configurations below:

    • 38 technical indicators: These include trend-based and volume-based indicators, along with oscillators to analyze price action and assess market sentiment, helping predict market movements.
    • 24 drawing tools: Tools like Fibonacci retracement levels and Elliott waves help identify price patterns, support/resistance levels, and breakout points. However, MT5’s design can make price action harder to interpret.
    • 21 timeframes: For multi-timeframe analysis, enabling detailed price action analysis.
    • 3 chart types: Price action can be displayed as line, bars, or candlesticks, offering diverse perspectives on trading opportunities.

    Orders

    MetaTrader 5’s order placing screen
    MetaTrader 5’s order placing screen

MetaTrader 5 features three types of order execution: market, pending, and one-click trading (top-left corner). One-click trading allows immediate entries at the spot price.

I have broken down the available order types on the MetaTrader 5 platform below:

    • Market Orders: Used for immediate entry at the best available price. They guarantee volume filling, though the entry price may differ from the requested price.
    • Limit Orders: Guarantee exact price entries but won’t be filled if the price doesn’t reach the trigger level.
    • Stop Orders: They are used to support open positions by limiting the maximum loss that can be incurred if the market turns in the opposite direction. A stop-loss order is placed at a fixed price below or above the spot price. If the market does indeed turn and triggers the stop-loss, it will transform into a market order and get filled at the best possible price.

    MT5 Desktop: My Key Takeaways

MetaTrader 5 is a good option for fast and simple order execution. However, its dated and rugged design falls short compared to newer, sleeker platforms. As a trader who prioritizes flexible charts that are easily scalable, I find MT5’s charting capability too rigid and less effective.

    4XC MT5 App

The MT5 mobile app affords quick and easy access to the market on the go. It is very useful for opening, terminating, and adjusting open positions. The app is available for both IOS and Android.

The market is continually evolving, marked by periodic surges and declines in volatility. For this reason, staying on top of the latest market developments is crucial, a task made simpler through the mobile app version of MT5.

You can also use the app to place market, limit, and stop orders, as well as to adjust the exposure of your open trades.

Watchlist of selected instruments (1), chart window (2), order placing window (3)
Watchlist of selected instruments (1), chart window (2), order placing window (3)

    MT5 App: My Key Takeaways

The MetaTrader app stands out for its convenience, making it an indispensable tool for adjusting trades, especially during periods of heightened volatility. However, I find the app less intuitive and not particularly ideal for analyzing price action.

    4XC Execution Model

4XC operates as a Straight-Through-Processing (STP) broker without a dealing desk. Client orders are routed to the broker’s pool of liquidity providers where they are filled at the best possible price.

    4XC VPS Hosting

The broker provides Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting to high-volume traders interested in achieving ultra-fast order execution speeds and securing stable internet connectivity. The service is free to trading accounts funded with at least $5000 and achieving a monthly traded volume of at least 4 lots.

    Tradable Instruments

    3.4
How Did We Test the Broker's Tradable Instruments?
For this section, we examined the broker's market offering, assessing the variety and depth of instruments and asset classes available for trading. Through our proprietary database, we then compared the results with other brokers. This comprehensive analysis allows you to determine if the broker offers the specific instruments and trading options you're looking for.
    tradable_instruments chart

4XC offers a little over 80 tradable instruments across currency pairs, commodities, indices, cryptocurrencies, and forward contracts. Notably, the broker does not provide any share CFDs or lower-risk securities, such as ETFs or bonds. This lack of diversity makes it difficult for traders to hedge their market exposure.

Compared to the industry average, 4XC offers a low number of commodities and cryptocurrencies, an average number of currency pairs, and a high number of indices.

    What Are CFDs?

Contracts for difference (CFDs) are derivatives that speculate on the underlying asset’s price without physical ownership.

For example, a long position on gold would generate profit as the price rises or incur a loss as it falls, all without the need to purchase actual gold bars.

One of the biggest advantages of trading CFDs is that traders can get in and out of the market almost instantaneously, thereby catching even minute changes in the price of the derivative.

What Can You Trade With 4XC?

    Forward Contracts

    4XC Instruments: My Key Takeaways

I appreciated the availability of two forward contracts on the Standard account. These present an alternative to CFD contracts and allow traders to manage market volatility differently. On the other hand, the 4XC range of instruments is quite narrow, and it does not provide any share CFDs, lower-risk securities (ETFs, bonds), futures contracts, or vanilla options.

    Customer Support

    4.7
How Did We Test the Broker's Customer Support?
Traders often underestimate the importance of customer support, yet it proves to be a critical aspect during times of crisis. We put the broker's customer support to the test ourselves using all possible channels, such as chat, phone, and others. Our evaluation focused on the accessibility of live agents, as well as the helpfulness and professionalism of their responses. This way, we provide you with comprehensive insights into whether a broker can deliver full support when you need it most.
    customer_support chart

4XC offers reliable customer support via live chat, email, and phone, with assistance available 24/7 in four languages. I was particularly impressed by the quality and comprehensiveness of the broker’s chatbot.

When we test a broker’s customer support, we evaluate the agent’s knowledge of their own website, how long it takes them to respond to questions, and how detailed their answers are.

I conducted my test on 23 December at around 9:03 a.m. CET via live chat. I asked a series of questions and received fast and comprehensive answers. I also appreciated the sophistication of 4XC’s chatbot, which, in my estimation, performed better than the average support agent.

Payments with 4XC can be made via bank wire, bank card, e-wallet, or cryptocurrency. While deposits are free, the broker applies a handling fee to withdrawals. Processing times vary by payment method but are generally in line with industry standards.

How Did We Test the Broker's Account Types and Terms?
When it comes to achieving your trading goals, choosing the proper account is essential. We initiated our evaluation by personally opening an account with the broker, which allowed us to gain firsthand experience of the process and accurately asses, how fast and easy it is. In addition, we carried out an in-depth analysis of the account types and features offered by the broker, including spreads, maximum leverage, minimum deposits, and more. For a comprehensive comparison, we turned to our proprietary database and examined how this broker's account offerings and processes stacked up against other brokers.

The market is continually evolving and never static, so it is important to hone your skills in a safe environment. You can set up a demo account for yourself prior to or alongside your live CFD account.

    Islamic Accounts

4XC provides Islamic accounts for swap-free trading, as mandated under Shariah law. This option is available only for Standard accounts. You can contact customer support to request additional information.

    What is CFD Leverage?

Leverage determines a trader’s overall market exposure. When trading Contracts for Difference (CFDs), positions can be opened for a fraction of their value because of leverage. Essentially, the broker lends the trader money so that they can open bigger positions. Leverage multiplies the profits a trader generates from winning positions but also the losses incurred from failed trades.

In the table below, I have listed the maximum retail leverage available with 4XC for instruments from different asset classes:

    Asset Class Maximum Leverage

How Did We Test the Broker's Research Tools?
Research options offered by brokers may not be seen as the most important feature for some traders, but they can provide a competitive advantage. To assess the broker's research offerings, we personally explored and tested both proprietary and third-party tools and content, such as Fundamental and Technical Analysis, Market News, educational videos, and webinars. After evaluating the availability and quality of the overall research offering, we compared the results with our benchmark to provide a comprehensive analysis of the broker's research capabilities.

I rate 4XC’s research as above average for the industry. The broker offers an excellent mix of in-house content, including diverse financial news and market analyses, complemented by actionable trading signals from Acuity.

    Research Tools

I have broken down the most important research tools with 4XC below:

    • Acuity Package: AI-driven market analysis and actionable trading signals that can be integrated directly on MT4 and MT5 and available to funded accounts with at least $500.
    • Trend Analysis: A proprietary sentiment tool that provides a snapshot of short-term market sentiment for a given instrument based on insights from over 20 indicators. It is available with free access on the website.
    • Financial News: Developed in-house and regularly updated articles that contain elements of economic and fundamental analysis. It could be enhanced by adding charts to visualize the market reaction to a particular economic release or market development.
    • Market Highlights: Presented in video format, the Market Highlights provide traders with a convenient, hands-off way to stay informed. Regularly updated, this content is also accessible on the broker’s YouTube channel.

Gaining knowledge about trading in the financial markets can make the difference between success and failure. To assess the broker's educational offerings, we personally tested and evaluated the quality of the content provided, considering its relevance for both novice and experienced traders. We explored the range of materials available, such as articles, videos, webinars, and courses. After evaluating the content's volume, update frequency, and overall quality, we compared the results with our benchmark to provide a well-rounded analysis of the broker's education offerings.
    education chart

4XC provides a range of educational materials, including several videos and three e-books focused on the basics of technical analysis. Additionally, the broker offers two educational packages from third-party providers. While I found 4XC’s educational content to be practical and extensive, it could be enhanced further by incorporating courses and live webinars.

I have broken down 4XC’s educational content below:

    • E-books: The first e-book, Introduction to Financial Markets, covers leverage trading basics, trading metrics, and the difference between buying and selling. The second focuses on technical analysis fundamentals, including support and resistance levels, time frames, price trends, and popular indicators like MACD, RSI, and Bollinger Bands. The third e-book delves into advanced technical analysis.
    • Trading Academies: 4XC gives access to two educational academies, Trade4Fun (T4F) and Alpha FX. Its clients can choose from a wide array of educational tools and content, ranging from one-on-one seminars to comprehensive educational guides.
    • YouTube: The broker also publishes a variety of educational content on its YouTube channel, mostly focused on implementing different trading strategies. The videos are available in different languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, and English.

    The Bottom Line

Founded in 2018, 4XC is headquartered in the Cook Islands and regulated by the FSC. The broker adheres to stringent safety standards, including client fund segregation, negative balance protection, and external audits. It also maintains professional indemnity insurance for added security.

4XC offers 82 tradable instruments at below-average trading fees. Clients can trade on MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, supported by the broker’s extensive educational and research content. Additionally, 4XC integrates AI-driven market insights and signals from Acuity and provides free VPS hosting for high-volume traders.

Despite these advantages, the selection of instruments lacks depth, and some spreads exceed industry averages.

In conclusion, I rate 4XC as a strong option for beginners and day traders, as well as experienced high-volume traders.
