Albania’s trade deficit narrowed to ALL 39 billion in March 2025, down from ALL 42 billion in the same month last year. Exports rose 4.9% year-on-year to ALL 35 billion, mainly driven by higher sales of minerals, fuels, and electricity (+44.1%), and to a lesser extent textiles and footwear (+4.6%) and food, beverages, and tobacco (+4.3%). Among trading partners, the largest increases in exports were to Kosovo (+83.1%), Greece (+13.2%), and Germany (+11.3%). Meanwhile, imports fell 1.4% to ALL 74 billion, primarily due to reduced purchases of construction materials and metals (-4%) and machinery, equipment, and spare parts (-9.8%). The sharpest declines in imports were from Italy (-2.8%), Turkey (-19.7%), and Germany (-12.2%). For the first quarter, the trade deficit stood at ALL 102 billion, with exports up 4.7% and imports down 3.5%.
