Colombia’s trade deficit widened to USD 1.546 billion in February 2025, up from a deficit of USD 1.01 billion in the same month last year. The increase was driven by a growth in exports and a contraction in exports. Imports increased 10.5% year-on-year to USD 5.3789 billion, marking the eighth consecutive month of growth, driven by higher purchases of fuels and extractive industry products (51.7%). Meanwhile, exports fell 0.8% year-on-year to USD 3.7803 billion, mainly due to a 17.5% drop in external sales of the fuels and extractive industry products group.
