Colombia’s trade deficit widened to $1.205 billion in March 2025 from the $0.927 billion gap in the same month last year, amid sharper export growth than imports. Foreign purchases rose 16.5% to $5.543,1 billion, marking a rebound after a decline in the previous month, mainly driven by a 20.9% increase in purchases of manufactured goods. In the meantime, exports rose 12.2% from the same month last year to $4.3381 billion, primarily due to a 50.9% surge in sales of agricultural products, food, and beverages. The US tariff war has increased uncertainty and redrawn global trade flows. With American companies and consumers looking for new suppliers, Colombia's agricultural and food exports have gained ground.
