Estonia's trade deficit narrowed to EUR 237 million in March 2025 from EUR 249 million in the same month of the previous year, marking the smallest trade gap since last November. Imports grew by 13% year-on-year to a five-month high of EUR 1,704 million, driven primarily by higher purchases from both EU (14%) and non-EU (13%) countries. Among commodities, notable increases were seen in mineral products (26%), wood and articles of wood (36%), and transport equipment (29%). Meanwhile, exports rose by 17% from a year earlier to a two-year high of EUR 1,696 million, mainly due to increased sales to both EU (20%) and non-EU (9%) countries. Key export gains were recorded in electrical equipment (6%), wood and articles of wood (8%), and agricultural products and food preparations (8%). For the first quarter of 2025, the country posted a EUR 860 million trade deficit, widening from a EUR 753 million gap in the same period a year earlier.
