Germany’s exports rose 1.4% month-on-month to €131.1 billion in September 2025, reaching a five-month high after a revised 0.8% decline in August and beating market expectations for a 0.5% increase. It was the first monthly gain in three months, supported by stronger demand from EU trading partners, where exports climbed 2.5%, including 1.4% to the Euro area and 5.1% to non-Euro area countries. Exports to the US, Germany’s largest export destination, rebounded sharply, rising 11.9% to €12.2 billion after five months of contraction, though still 7.4% below year-earlier levels amid the lingering impact of US tariffs. Shipments to the UK also strengthened, up 7.1%, while exports to China fell 2.2%, remaining 11.9% lower year-on-year. Over the first nine months of 2025, Germany’s total exports reached €1.18 trillion, up just 0.7% from the same period in 2024, as global trade uncertainty continued to weigh on momentum.
