The trade deficit in Greece expanded to EUR 3.0 billion in March 2025 from EUR 2.4 billion in the same month last year, as exports dropped while imports increased. Exports declined by 8.4% year-on-year to EUR 3.9 billion, amid lower sales to third countries (-15%) and the EU (-2.7%). Meanwhile, imports rose by 3.8% to EUR 7.0 billion, driven by increased purchases from the EU (4.6%) and third countries (2.8%). Considering the first three months of the year, the country’s trade deficit widened slightly to EUR 8.3 billion from EUR 8.0 billion in the corresponding period a year ago, as exports fell by 1.7% while imports edged up by 0.4%.
