The annual inflation rate in Greece rose to 1.9% in September 2025, slowing from 2.9% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since September 2023, driven largely by lower price growth in most sub-indices, such as food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4% vs 2.2% in July), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1% vs 1.2%), clothing and footwear (5.2% vs 7.7%), housing (0.2% vs 3.7%), housing equipment (0.4% vs 0.6%), health (0.1% vs 0.6%), recreation and culture (1% vs 1.2%), and hotels, cafés, and restaurants (5.9% vs 6.2%). At the same time, costs fell for miscellaneous goods and services (-0.4% vs 0.2%). Conversely, prices grew for transport (2.7% vs 1.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.8% in September from 0.1% in the preceding period.
