Indonesia's trade surplus surged to USD 3.12 billion in February 2025, up from USD 0.83 billion a year earlier, exceeding market expectations of a USD 2.45 billion gain. The increase was primarily driven by a jump in exports. Exports surged 14.05% from a year earlier, marking the eleventh consecutive month of expansion and the fastest pace since January 2023. This figure was much faster than expectations for a 9.1% growth and accelerated sharply from a marginally revised 4.56% rise in the previous month. Imports rose 2.3% year-on-year, surpassing forecasts of a 0.6% increase, following an upwardly revised 2.73% fall in January. In 2024, Indonesia posted a USD 31.04 billion surplus, narrowing from USD 36.89 billion in 2023.
