Saudi Arabia’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.3% in August 2025 from 2.1% in July, slightly above expectations of 2.2%. Main upward pressure came from housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (5.8% vs 5.6% in July), mainly due to faster rent growth (7.6% vs 7.2%). Price growth also picked up for food and beverages (1.1% vs 1.0%) and restaurant and accommodation services (3.0% vs 2.8%), led by higher accommodation costs (4.7% vs 4.4%). Personal care, social protection, and other goods and services rose further (4.8% vs 4.5%), boosted by jewelry and watches (18% vs 17%). Transport inflation accelerated (1.2% vs 1.1%) on stronger passenger transport (5.3% vs 5.0%), while education services edged up (0.8% vs 0.5%). In contrast, inflation eased for furnishings and household equipment (-0.3% vs -0.2%) and for information and communication (-0.4% vs -0.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.1% in August, the same pace as in July.
