Senegal Taxa De Inflação

Consumer prices in Senegal dropped by 1.9% year-on-year in August 2024, much steeper than a 0.7% decline in the previous month. It was the second straight month of falling consumer prices and the fastest decline since January 2015, with food prices shrinking the most since November 2014 (-4.0% vs -2.0% in July) while the cost of housing & utilities continued to fall (-0.6% vs -0.8%). Simultaneously, prices moderated for transport (0.8% vs 1.0%), clothing (0.7% vs 1.3%), and restaurants & hotels (2.9% vs 3.1%). Meantime, inflation was steady for communications (at 0.1%) while accelerating for furnishings & household equipment (2.4% vs 2.3%), miscellaneous goods & services (3.9% vs 3.3%), and recreation & culture (0.4% vs 0.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.6%, the most in six months, after edging up 0.1% in July.
