Slovakia's trade surplus shrank to EUR 195.7 million in September 2024 from EUR 371.4 million in the corresponding month of the previous year. Exports dropped 0.7% year-on-year to EUR 9,029.9 million, mainly attributed to lower sales for machinery and transport equipment, which declined for the eighth time this year. Exports to the EU and non-EU countries fell 0.5% and 1.5%, respectively. Meanwhile, imports rose 1.3% to EUR 8,834.2 million, boosted by an increase in the import of mineral fuels. Arrivals from the EU grew by almost 5%, while those from non-EU countries decreased by around 5%. For the January to September period, the country's trade surplus narrowed to EUR 3,366.1 million from EUR 3,839.7 million in the same period a year ago.
