In Slovakia, the confidence indicator in industry measures the level of optimism that companies have about the performance of the economy and how they feel about their organizations’ prospects. Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic confidence indicator in industry is a composite indicator calculated as an arithmetic average of balances of the demand, stock of finished goods (with an opposite sign) and the expected production.
Latest Updates
The industrial confidence indicator in Slovakia dropped by 7.7 points month-over-month to -1 in January 2025, from 6.7 in the previous month. The decline was mainly due to the drop in expected production for the next three months (18 vs 40 in December), particularly in the manufacture of furniture, other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery & equipment and basic pharmaceutical products & pharmaceutical preparations. Moreover, expectations for employment turned negative (-3 vs 3). On the other hand, prospects for selling prices improved significantly (17 vs -1), while export orders books were less negative (-15 vs -22).
