Gross foreign exchange reserves in South Africa rose to $65.859 billion in November 2024, up from $63.028 billion in the previous month. This marked the largest amount since records began in 1998, boosted by an increase in foreign currency reserves ($48.896 billion vs $45.515 billion in October). Meanwhile, decreases were observed in gold reserves ($10.737 billion vs. $11.203 billion) and SDR holdings ($6.226 billion vs. $6.310 billion). Additionally, the forward position, representing the central bank's unsettled or swap transactions, edged down to $0.534 billion in November from $0.538 billion in the previous month.
