Turkey’s trade deficit widened to USD 7.6 billion in October 2025, from USD 5.9 billion in the same month of the previous year, final estimates showed. It marked the largest trade gap since June, as imports jumped by 7.2% year-on-year to USD 31.5 billion, driven largely by higher purchases of intermediate goods (7.3%) and capital goods (20.2%), which largely offset the decline in consumption goods (-4.3%). China (12.6%) remained the top import source, followed by Russia (11.8%) and Germany (7.4%). Meanwhile, exports rose by 2% from a year earlier to USD 23.9 billion, supported mainly by stronger sales of manufacturing (3.2%), despite decreases in agriculture, forestry and fishing (-7.7%), as well as mining and quarrying (-32.9%). Top export destinations included Germany (8.4%), the UK (5.9%), and the US (5.9%). Considering the first ten months of the year, the country’s trade deficit widened to USD 74.7 billion from USD 65.9 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
