Reino Unido Monthly GDP MoM

The British economy expanded 0.2% mom in August 2024, after showing no growth in both July and June, and in line with expectations. Services edged up 0.1% (vs 0.1% in July), led by gains in accounting, bookkeeping and auditing (4.3%); legal activities (1.7%); and scientific research and development (2.8%) while declines were recorded for wholesale (-1.2%). The production sector expanded 0.5%, rebounding from a 0.7% fall in July, led by a 1.1% surge in manufacturing, mostly manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (3.6%) and basic metals and metal products (2.3%). There were also positive contributions from water supply, sewerage, waste management (1.5%) and utilities (1.2%), that were partially offset by a fall of 4% in mining and quarrying, mostly a 4.2% drop in extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas. Construction output also grew 0.4%, after a 0.4% contraction, led by new work (1.6%). Considering the three months to August, the GDP in the UK expanded 0.2%.
