Average weekly earnings in the UK, including bonuses, rose by 6.0% year-on-year to GBP 710/week in the three months to December 2024, marking the highest increase in 13 months. This followed a 5.5% rise in the previous period and slightly exceeded market forecasts of 5.9%. Pay growth accelerated in both the private sector (6.3% vs. 5.8%) and the public sector (4.8% vs. 4.2%). Adjusted for inflation, total earnings increased by 2.5%, up from 2.4% in the three months to November.
