The annual core consumer price inflation rate in the United States, which excludes items such as food and energy, stood at a three-month high of 3.3% in November 2024, unchanged from October and September. Figures met market expectations. Prices for services excluding energy services, closely monitored by the Federal Reserve as a gauge of underlying inflation, slowed to 4.6% in November from 4.8% in October, driven by softer increases in heavyweight shelter (4.7% vs. 4.9%) and transportation services (7.1% vs. 8.2%). On a monthly basis, core consumer prices rose by 0.3% in November, matching the pace of the previous three months and in line with forecasts.
